Bristol Grammar School (BGS) Year 7 Rugby 7s team claimed victory at at the annual the annual Bristol Schools Rugby 7s tournament for U12 Boys.

Held at QEH‘s Failand sports facility, the tournament hosted 12 teams from state and independent schools across the region. The overall standard was really high, with a festival atmosphere of positive participation and champagne rugby.

Boys from all the schools adapted quickly to the fast-paced nature of the shortened format, using the available space well to clock up high-scoring games. The waterfall format of the tournament afforded all the teams plenty of playing opportunities, with play-offs for teams coming second and third in their groups, bronze medal matches, as well as the blue-riband final.

The boys of Bristol Grammar School Year 7s utilised their pace and passing accuracy to secure a semi-final against a very worthy Clifton College Prep team. A frenetic finale was then played out against hosts QEH, with pitch-length tries and gut-busting tackles from both teams. However, it was BGS who prevailed on the day, to take home the victors’ medals.
