News, events and schools' information for families across Bristol

Adventures lie in wait for the pupils at Christ Church C of E Primary School in Clifton with the arrival of its new pirate ship play area.

The super ship was designed and built by local Bristol playground designer TouchWood and funded by the school’s community through its amazing PTA and the great events they ran during the last year. The fabulous pirate ship features Kraken tentacle rising to the beautiful robinia wood prow, its portholes and treasure chests, captain’s helm and shipmate’s telescope.

“We are very lucky to have worked closely with TouchWood from conception to completion,” said a teacher from the primary school. “The children have been on the journey from briefing to seeing the designs as they were progressing to the final completion of the pirate ship in the playground.”

Comments from children at the school included, “Ooh, what’s that tentically thing?”, “I wonder what I can spy through the telescope?” and “We can sail to Timbuktu!”
