News, events and schools' information for families across Bristol

Today at Clifton High School, students, parents, staff and governors are celebrating the outstanding success of this year’s A level results.

Despite the recent challenges, at the end of two years’ study, 97% of students received a grade of A*- C across all subjects, with nearly a quarter at A*. With 90% of all grades A*-B and with a 100% pass rate, the school congratulates this year’s leavers on their extraordinary achievements.

The success of the students has ensured that a majority of them have gained their first choice places at the country’s top universities. Among the top performers is Oliver Lock who will be attending Imperial College London to read Mechanical Engineering. Oliver achieved 3 A*, an A in his AS Level and an additional A* in his EPQ. Alongside Lily Beckford, who with her outstanding contribution to Clifton High School’s focus on diversity, has also achieved the grades required to study Criminology and Sociology at Chester University.

“Most of all, we celebrate the resilience and determination of our students,” said Head of School, Matthew Bennett. “Their ability to cope with every challenge thrown at them speaks volumes for their strength of character and they are true ambassadors of everything our school stands for. These are the outcomes that will serve them the most in life. We are extremely proud of them all.”
