News, events and schools' information for families across Bristol

Carol Vorderman recently paid a visit to Clifton High School in Bristol to officially open its Sixth Form Centre. TV presenter, author and maths expert Carol has regularly talked about her son’s positive experiences at the school, and took the chance to meet the pupils before officially cutting the ribbon to open the new resource.

The new Sixth Form Centre features a number of common room areas

The news sixth centre features a combination of classrooms and communal area, which will cater for around 80 sixth form students in classes of between 8-14 students at a time. Louise Brennan, Director of Operations at Clifton High School, explained that the resource has been designed to give the students a university campus style environment, making it ideal for independent learning.

The centre will benefit from a new annex in 2023

“We are absolutely delighted with our new Sixth Form Centre, a wonderful addition to what is already a fantastic learning environment at Clifton High School,” said Head of School Matthew Bennett. “Together with a broad curriculum offering, including new subjects such as Politics, Economics, Psychology, PE, Photography, and (from September 2022) Philosophy, we continue to realise the individual brilliance of our pupils and it doesn’t stop there!  A new construction is planned for 2022 to expand this new building further, with a state of the art social area to complement our learning and teaching.”
