News, events and schools' information for families across Bristol

The Bristol Hippodrome has announced a fantastic response to the food drive it arranged for South & East Bristol Foodbank during Come From Away, which was played at the venue from Tue 20th – Sat 31st of Aug.

“We were blown away by the response and the number of donations we received!” said Jenny Martin from the Hippodrome. “The donation point was constantly overflowing and our Box Office ended up looking a bit like a supermarket.

“We had over 1,000 items donated and it came to 268.72kg! That makes up 21 Single Person parcels, worth roughly £650. The parcels will feed 21 people for 3 days. It also equates to 189 meals + toiletries and snacks!”

The South & East Bristol Foodbank is a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in its local area. It has six locations throughout Bristol, serving the postcodes of BS2, BS3, BS4, BS5, BS14, BS15 and BS16.
