As part of National Fishing Month, a series of events has been organised across the country to give people who have never fished before the opportunity to learn the basics.
Among these events are a couple of Get Fishing days at Chew Valley Lake at Chew Stoke on 4 August and 21 August. These events are open to all, whatever your abilities and whether you’re fishing for the first time or getting back into angling. Fishing is a great way to get out and about with your children, try something different and learn some new outdoor skills.
Everything you need to catch your first fish and to learn more about fishing is provided, along with friendly volunteers to pass on all the of expertise and knowledge you’ll need.

Plus, if you’re already hooked (geddit!) on fishing, up until Sunday 5 September, existing fishing licence holders can register for a FREE one-day fishing licence from the Environment Agency to take someone they know fishing.
