Aerospace Bristol, the popular family visitor attraction and home of the last Concorde ever to fly, has announced that the museum will be celebrating a ‘Helicopter Half-Term’ from 11 February to 26 February, covering both the Bristol and South Wales school holidays.

Visitors will be able to watch model flying demonstrations by the British Model Flying Association (Tuesday 14 & Thursday 16 February), build and fly their own paper helicopters, find out more about helicopters from knowledgeable museum volunteers and learn about CPR with Great Western Air Ambulance Charity volunteers too (Friday 17 February).

Aerospace Bristol has also partnered with The Helicopter Museum in Weston-Super-Mare to offer visitors discounted tickets during half-term. Visitors who show Aerospace Bristol tickets at the Helicopter Museum will save 20% off their admission fee, while Helicopter Museum tickets can be used to save 20% off tickets to Aerospace Bristol any time during February half-term.

The Helicopter Museum boasts the world’s largest dedicated collection of rotorcraft, with over 80 helicopters and autogyros, including the Queen’s Royal Flight Helicopters and the world speed record holder G-LYNX.

Make and fly your own paper helicopter

Visitors to Aerospace Bristol during February half term will be able to build their own paper helicopters alongside the museum’s helicopter exhibits. Once built, the helicopters can be put to the test on an air table to see how well they fly.

The Beaufort Model Flying Club, a branch of the BMFA will be at Aerospace Bristol on the 14 and 16 February.

The BMFA will be demonstrating their remote control aircraft and bring with them a vast collection of models including the smallest drone on the market. Demonstrations last approximately 20 minutes, from 10:20am and continue throughout the day.

Established in 1972, the Beaufort Model Flying Club is one of the largest clubs in the South West of England.

Spotlight Talks

Join Aerospace Bristol during February half term for volunteer Spotlight Talks. Go on a journey through time, exploring Bristol’s helicopter history and learn all about the science and engineering behind helicopters.

Spotlight talks take place daily during February half-term and are free with museum admission.

Great Western Air Ambulance Volunteers

Volunteers from Great Western Air Ambulance Charity will be at Aerospace Bristol on 17 February, ready to answer questions, explain more about the Air Ambulance, and give visitor the chance to join a Heartstarters session.

Heartstarter sessions are free with entry to Aerospace Bristol ona first come, first served basis and include a demonstration of DRS-ABC methods – Danger, Response, Shout, Airway, Breathing and CPR.

One of the busiest air ambulances in the UK, the GWAAC deliver critical care and pre-hospital emergency medicine to the South West.
