Aerospace Bristol will host a Home Education Day on 11 December, offering home-educated students a unique opportunity to explore the world of aerospace engineering through hands-on STEM workshops.
Designed for Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 students, the day will combine interactive workshops, museum exploration, and activities aimed at inspiring the next generation of engineers. Students will delve into the history of aviation and space exploration while imagining what the future might hold.
Charlie Clark, Learning Manager at Aerospace Bristol, said, “Our Home Education Day is an exciting chance for students to dive into the world of aerospace. They’ll uncover the fascinating history of flight, get hands-on with workshops that spark curiosity, and start imagining what the future of aerospace engineering could look like.”
The day will feature two engaging STEM workshops:
- Mission to Mars invites students to step into the role of engineers, designing a Mars rover prototype while learning about the challenges of space exploration.
- Blast Off Rockets introduces the physics of space travel, uncovering how rockets overcome gravity to reach the stars.
Students will also explore the museum’s Heritage, Concorde and Conservation Hangars, discovering the innovations that have shaped aerospace history and stepping aboard the last Concorde ever to fly.
Aerospace Bristol’s award-winning learning programme delivers thought-provoking workshops tailored to all educational levels, from Early Years to A-level. Popular workshops such as Blast Off Rockets and Concorde Investigators encourage enquiry-based learning.
