Keynsham Life Saving Club has hit upon a novel way to raise funds – it’s running its own adventure film festival in the heart of Keynsham!
The lifesavers train at Keynsham Leisure Centre, but rising energy costs have pushed up the cost of hiring the pool. Club chairman, David ‘Blondie’ Fielding, said, “We try to keep our membership fees as low as possible so that everyone has the chance to learn essential lifesaving skills. When the opportunity came up to host our own adventure film festival I thought it was a great way to raise money for the club. There are some really exciting films in this years’ selection – it’s going to be a great night!”
The film festival will feature a packed programme of inspirational outdoor and adventure sports films, hand-picked from the London Mountain Film Festival programme. There’ll certainly be some mountaineering and water-sports films and, for the adrenaline junkies out there, probably some base-jumping or mountain biking films too.
All the money raised from ticket sales will support Keynsham Life Saving Club and help the club bring essential first-aid and water-safety skills to more people than ever before.
The festival will be held in the Keynsham Community Space on Fri 3 Mar from 7pm. Full details and tickets are available at www.klsc.co.uk. Use discount code BristolParent for 10% of the ticket price.
