News, events and schools' information for families across Bristol

John Cabot Academy’s main hall was packed to capacity with stalls and stands for the Cabot Learning Federation’s (CLF) Post 16 Careers Fair.

Staged on the first day of National Careers Week, the event was a chance for all Post 16 students to find out what pathways or next steps are available to them after their Post 16 education.

There was a vast array or organisations for students to talk to, including colleges, universities, and apprenticeships to name but a few. During the week students were involved in mock interviews with business and industry to give them first-hand experience of what is to come.

National Careers Week (NCW) is a one-week celebration of careers guidance and free resources in education across the UK. The aim is to provide a focus for careers guidance activity at an important stage in the academic calendar to help support young people develop awareness and excitement about their future pathways.

Kath Copper, Senior Principal CLF Post 16, said, “Our intent is to raise aspirations, give students the skills to achieve their full potential and provide opportunities to explore different career pathways. During careers week we have had a careers fair, conducted mock interviews, and have had employers leading subject-related presentations in lessons. Thank you to our students for engaging in these opportunities.”
