News, events and schools' information for families across Bristol

Residents in Keynsham are being made aware of a public consultation being held by Wellsway Multi-Academy Trust, the Department for Education and ISG about the new Two Rivers Primary School at Hygge Park.

The consultation comes ahead of a full planning application to be submitted to Bath & North East Somerset Council early in 2021.

More information about the proposals and an online feedback survey are available at www.tworiverskeynsham.co.uk. The deadline for submitting comments is Friday, January 8.

The new school will be a two-form entry primary school for 420 pupils aged between 4 and 11 years. It will be operated by Wellsway Multi-Academy Trust and is scheduled to open in September 2022. The school is currently based in purpose-built temporary accommodation on the Wellsway schools campus.

The design and construction of the school aims to meet Passivhaus environmental standards. Passivhaus is an international low energy design standard to minimise the environmental impact of buildings and use the best approaches to renewable energy, heating and energy conservation.

Councillor Kevin Guy, cabinet member for Children’s Services, said, “Two Rivers School will provide much needed provision for primary education in the Keynsham area and I’d encourage residents to have their say in this consultation. We look forward to the planning application for the school being submitted early this year and we will pay close attention to the detail of the proposals, comments from neighbours and other consultation responses when considering the application.”
