News, events and schools' information for families across Bristol

Year 1 and 2 pupils from The Meadows Primary School in Bristol recently enjoyed a visit from their local PCSOs, offering the chance to learn about how the police keep them safe and their role in the community.

These visits are a regular part of the school year for the school, with each class enjoying at least one session with the officers a year. During their visit, the PCSOs covered a range of subjects ranging from safer strangers, to crime and its consequences and online safety.

The children also found out about the different bits of equipment the police have and what they are used for, including the chance to feel the safety vests.

“At The Meadows, we encourage curiosity and big dreams,” said Joy Mounter, the Headteachers at The Meadows Primary School. “The children loved finding out about the role of the police and how they could become a member of the police community when they are older. We are a community focused school and really value the relationships we have with our PCSOs.”
