News, events and schools' information for families across Bristol

Redmaids’ High, the renowned all-girls day school in Bristol, is thrilled to announce the A-Level results its students received today.

53% of grades were achieved at A* or A, significantly higher than the national average of 28%, with 79% of grades achieved at A*-B, and 94% A*-C.

All departments within the school are worthy of praise and recognition, with some incredible standout performances. 100% of students in Fine Art achieved an A* grade, as did students in Latin, Russian and Further Mathematics.

The results have been fantastic, but the accomplishments that the school is celebrating today extend further to the exciting next steps its students will take.

For those looking forward to beginning university, the range of courses chosen by the cohort is impressive, with Medicine, Physics, International Social and Public Policy, Television and Film Production, Neuroscience and Ancient History and Classical Archaeology just a few examples that represent an incredibly diverse range of subjects students are going on to study.

More students than ever are looking forward to studying degrees with a focus on the environment, including Rosie, who will now pursue her interests in Marine Biology at the University of St Andrews; Isabella, who is following her passion for Geography at the University of Exeter; and Clemmie who is going on to study Zoology at the University of Nottingham.

There are a notable number of students going on to study languages at a higher level, including Ruby, who will be going on to study Spanish at the University of Oxford; Gracie and Ellen, who will be studying Modern Languages; as well as Sarah, who will be studying Arabic.

Redmaids’ High also continues to see several students flourish in the Performing Arts. The school is delighted that Grace and Hannah are both studying Music at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and the Royal Northern College of Music respectively, with Peggy studying Acting at the Oxford School of Drama.

Redmaids’ High is also celebrating students taking on exciting alternative pathways, such as Olivia, who has been offered a degree apprenticeship studying Computer Science at Jaguar, and former Head Girl Muznah, who will be travelling to Somalia as part of her desired gap year.

The diversity of destinations beyond school continues to be a sign of strength for Redmaids’ High and the expert guidance and broad opportunity it offers students.

Director of Sixth Form, Dr Alice England, commented, “I am incredibly proud of the students in this year group and their tremendous dedication and effort over the past two years. Today has not just been about acknowledging their academic achievements, but more importantly celebrating the exciting new chapter ahead. They are more than ready to explore their next steps, and we are so proud to have been part of every one of their journeys.

“We will miss them all greatly, but we are so excited for what their future will bring!”

The School’s Head, Mr Paul Dwyer, commented, “The A-Level and IB results for this year have been truly exceptional, showcasing the remarkable dedication of the entire year group as well as the incredible efforts of our staff. This cohort has shone in so many ways across all aspects of school life.

“I wish them all the very best, I look forward to seeing what the future will bring and I am confident that they will continue to make themselves and the school proud.”
