Wellsway School in Keynsham is celebrating a successful year of GCSE results for its pupils. “We are very proud of our students who have worked so hard to achieve these results and we are grateful for the support we always receive from parents to ensure their children strive to do their best”, said Headteacher, Rob Pearsall.

“When I met this year group in September 2021, they were in Year 9, emerging from an extraordinary year in bubbles; a time when they were told they could not do so many things. I challenged them to be the best they could be, and they have risen to that challenge repeatedly.

“Year 11 have a superb attitude to life; this has been a huge journey for them and one that shouldn’t be underestimated. When thinking about how they were feeling several months ago, their thoughts were naturally dominated by how to revise and fit in so many exams! But succeed they did!

“We are also incredibly proud of the way that they have conducted themselves over the last five years. They have a spirit and energy, a sense of mischief, but most of all they have demonstrated their character through hard work, kindness, and fun!”

In a range of fantastic results, there were some outstanding outcomes for individual students.  These include:

  • Gabriella (nine Grade 9s and one Grade 8);

There were further excellent individual successes including: A J, Aalia, Anna, Saskia, Bruno, Isla, Summer, Joseph, Max, Violet, Lucy, Oliver and Sofia who have all made outstanding progress.

“Whilst we have highlighted some students, as a school we recognise the academic success of all our students who have overcome adversity, which truly reflects the distinct characteristics of our Wellsway learners at all levels,” added Rob Pearsall. “We recognise the additional anxiety caused by the events of the past years and thank our parents and carers for their continued support. Students should be reassured that the grades they have received today have been fully earned and are the result of their hard work, dedication, and perseverance.

“We wish them every future success and happiness as they begin the next chapter of their lives at Sixth Form, college, apprenticeships and the wider world of work. They have been wonderful ambassadors for our school community.”
