News, events and schools' information for families across Bristol

Calling all local skateboarders! Campus Skateparks in Bristol is hosting Survival of the Sickest, a youth competition in association with Skateboard GB and taking place on 20 May.

“Skateboarding is booming right now and there are so many talented young people out there,” said Tim Noakes, the company director at Campus. “This comp will be chance for these young people to show their skills in under 16’s and over 16’s comps. It is free to come along and watch, and we even have a skateboards only all ages session after the comp if you’re feeling inspired to get involved.

“Daily Grind will be on hand with all the necessary refreshments including their first class delicious pizzas. It promises to be an awesome day celebrating youth talent and the fantastic place skateboarding is in! We hope to see you there.”

If you would like to register to compete please go to https://skateboardgb.sport80.com/public/wizard/e/10/home

Tim also explained that Campus will be running its regular Skate Club this May half term at both the Pool venue in Bishopsworth and Park in Winterbourne.

“Skate club is our take on a holiday club,” he explained. “Aimed at children between 7 and 12 years old, parents can drop off children at 10am and pick them up at 4pm, there is even an option to pay a little extra and have one of our delicious pizzas.

“These are fully immersive days in the skatepark. Our skate coaches will be on hand to help young people develop their skills but nobody is skating for a full six hours, so you can also expect fun, games and other creative activities. Of course, scooters and other skatepark wheels are more than welcome!”
