Students at Fairfield High School (FHS) are celebrating a strong set of GCSE results, reflecting the considerable resilience, aspiration, talent and sheer hard work of the 216 strong year group.
Fairfield’s strive towards identifying and having conversations with students as individuals and not ‘numbers’, together with the careful planning and implementation of a broad and diverse curriculum, has been the secret to its success.
Whilst there are plenty of examples of academic brilliance with many students achieving grades 8 and 9, one student achieved a magnificent seven grade 9s – a testament to their approach to learning throughout their time at Fairfield.
Another student turned adversity into opportunity through the support of the pastoral team, Achievement Coordinator and teachers to achieve a strong set of results.
Cashan Campbell, Vice Principal at Fairfield High School explains, “It’s fair to say this young person has had a challenging time, with plenty of ups and downs and a rollercoaster of emotions. However, I am delighted to say that these results will enable them to achieve great things beyond Fairfield and we encourage them to stay in touch with what these may be.”
Another achieved one of the highest Health and Social Care GCSE grades across the country, recognised by OCR, which is richly deserved and a launch pad for the next step in their personal journey.
Edel Cronin, Principal of Fairfield High School, added, “We are extremely proud of our Year 11s who are leaving us equally proud of themselves today. We focus on developing strong relationships with our students, encouraging them to aim high and believe in themselves. It is days like today when we have a warmth and sense of achievement knowing we have collectively been a part of this journey.”
All subjects saw great results in Fairfield. Some highlights include Languages, PE and Health and Social Care. Drama results have seen an upward trajectory since last year, demonstrating students’ commitment to arts, also reflected in an impressive 140 students taking part in the latest annual school production.
