News, events and schools' information for families across Bristol

There’s an awful lot to look forward to at St George’s in Bristol over the next few months, including plenty of events aimed at families.

St George’s Big Birthday Bash takes on Sat 16 – Sun 17 Sep. This will be a fantastic weekend event with entertainment for all the family. From concerts and singing sessions to trails, crafts, gardening and games, all while soaking in the beautiful building and gardens at St George’s Bristol and learning more about its wonderful heritage!

Then there’s the MiniBeats series, providing an interactive introduction to all the families of instruments, and to some of the wonderful music written and arranged for them. The next session will be on Sun 22 Oct, with two sessions at 10.30am and 12.30pm, introducing children to the wonderful world of strings!

Then there’s Wild World coming up on Wed 25 Oct which will be a morning of magical, mythical storytelling with musical accompaniment and plenty of interaction, hosted by the brilliant Michael Loader and multi-instrumentalist Fiona Barrow.

This includes the Big Elephant Adventure, free, interactive pushchair trail across Bristol, from Saturday 22 October 2022 onwards.

Just pop into any participating venue, pick up a map and follow the story of the Elephant as he walks around Bristol looking for his friend, Mr Giraffe. Stop off at St George’s Box Office and any of the other participating venues, to collect a special stamp. Why not visit our play space at the same time? The ongoing Songbird Trail around the grounds at St George’s Bristol where you can discover the extraordinary soundworld of songbirds in an outdoor picture and sound trail that winds through the peaceful urban paradise of St George’s gardens.

While the concerts may be winding down for the Summer Season, the Café Bar . This fantastic open space is the perfect place to meet up and share ideas, find some peace in the middle of a busy day or meet with other parents for a delicious lunch in the centre of town. We already welcome meeting groups of freelance parents and we look forward to welcoming many more as the school holidays begin. Offering a unique combination of indoor space and extensive gardens to explore and play in the heart of Bristol, it’s perfect for any weather.
