News, events and schools' information for families across Bristol

For Sian, the owner of Feelgood Fitness in Bristol, running a studio dedicated to women’s health and fitness brings so much in terms of both personal achievement and helping people across the community.

“I also love the constant learning that comes with working with people. But most of all I love the connections and relationships we build as a small studio.

“I launched Feelgood Fitness back in 2010. I had been ill with a very rare pituitary brain tumour and at the time I was recovering with a personal trainer. He was amazing and exercising was the only thing that made me feel normal, and I whole heartedly believe is what helped me with my recovery. I wanted to give this to other people, and so I retrained as a personal trainer, a pilates instructor and then sports masseuse.”

Feelgood Fitness now offer a wide range of classes and courses for all ages and abilities, including a variety for parents and carers, and parents-to-be. However, there is something else that really makes Feelgood Fitness stand out, as Sian is keen to explain…

“We care! We don’t believe that certain exercises should only be accessible for those with money, in posh areas, that wear the latest fashion. We welcome pjs with open arms! We are down to earth and always go the extra mile for our clients.”

These classes includes pilates, barre work, circuits, and increasingly, a range of classes for parents and parents-to-be. There’s also a range of online courses available on the Feelgood Fitness website.

“We also offer a large range of classes from postnatal pilates through to HIIt classes. All of our Pilates instructors are qualified and experienced with parents to be and new parents. A lot of our clients have or have had children so we are always happy to share stories and advice. We are also child friendly and don’t mind if you need to bring them in.

“We have seen a growing interest for scar therapy, particularly around operations such as C-sections. There is always a demand for pelvic floor and diastasis repair, which we can help with either classes, private sessions or soft tissue therapy.

And what does Sian enjoy most about her work? “I love working with complex clients and seeing them make even the smallest of improvements. Even something as small as being able to walk up the stairs is a huge achievement.”
