News, events and schools' information for families across Bristol

Aerospace Bristol, in partnership with the Bristol Omnibus Vehicle Collection and The Mall, Cribbs Causeway, will be offering visitors the chance to travel to and from the museum on a vintage Bristol bus this half-term.

Visitors will be able to catch the bus from Car Park H (the Coach Park) at The Mall, with services departing every 15 minutes from 9:45am and arriving at Aerospace Bristol around 10 minutes later.

Once they arrive at the museum, visitors will also get the chance to learn more about the buses and their history from their drivers and owners, with a selection of Vintage Bristol buses to explore.

Saturday’s shuttle bus service is part of a range of special activities Aerospace Bristol is running this half-term, in celebration of the museum’s fifth birthday.

Half-Term Activities at Aerospace Bristol

In celebration of the museum’s 5th Anniversary, visitors can make their own birthday hats – creating amazing designs right underneath Concorde – and collect special Alfie and Amelia stickers.

There’s also the chance to learn all about the history of the supersonic airliner with volunteer Patrick Williams, watch model flying demonstrations, and see the frame of a Bristol Fighter suspended from the ceiling above the museum’s existing replica.

A History of the Supersonic airliner and Concorde

Join the museum on Saturday (29th) at 11am as Volunteer Patrick Williams goes on a journey through time, exploring the history of the supersonic airliner. Learn all about supersonic technology starting in the 1950s, and what may emerge later this decade in Supersonic passenger aircraft.

Free tickets for the talk with Patrick will be available upon arrival. A valid museum ticket will be required.

See the new Bristol Fighter display

Come along to the museum this half-term for your first chance to see the new Bristol Fighter display. Previously on show in the Conservation Workshop, the Bristol Fighter frame can now be seen in all its glory above the Bristol Fighter replica.

Plus, go back in time and try WWI pilot dressing-up costumes and read all about the Bristol fighter in the all new information added to the World War One area of the exhibition.

Model Flying Demonstrations

Aerospace Bristol’s Making Studio will be host to the British Model Flying Association on Thursday 27th October. Watch as their miniature aircraft take to the skies!
