Seven students from Wells Cathedral School are developing their netball in the England performance pathway, with two representing their countries.
Three pupils have been selected into one of Team Bath Netball’s regional hubs. The girls are training weekly with other Team Bath athletes and developing their skills and understanding, in the hope to represent Bath at NPL (National Performance League) standard in the future.
Two other pupils have also been selected for Northern Ireland and Wales U17 squads, and are training and playing regularly in preparation for Netball Europe. This is an exciting tournament that is played in Gibraltar in March and they will play against a number of other European netball teams over the course of the four days.
An Upper Sixth pupil has been selected for the U19 Cardiff Dragons NPL squad. This exciting news follows rigorous trialling over a couple of weekends and she was thrilled to be selected into the squad. She will compete in the national performance league against other netball franchises (such as Team Bath).
Elsewhere in the school, one Year 9 pupil who has been selected and is playing for Somerset county and two Year 8 pupils who are playing in the Somerset Satellite Academy.
