Inspirational stories will be shared at this year’s Bristol Young Heroes Awards as Bristol’s most extraordinary young people are celebrated at a glitzy award ceremony on 1 October at We The Curious

The Bristol Young Heroes Awards lift the lid of the amazing young people (aged 11-19) across the city, particularly those who have overcome difficult circumstances, made a difference in the lives of others or achieved great things. The awards will be handed out to the young winners of 11 categories, including the new category this year of ‘Covid Hero’.

Three finalists from each category will attend the event as guests of honour, with the winning young heroes announced on the night being presented with a trophy to commemorate their achievement. The young finalists will be joined by a star-studded audience of sponsors and special VIP guests including actor Joe Simms and Great British Bake Off star Bryony Williams, and presented by former BBC Bristol presenter Emma Britton.

Categories for 2021 awards are as follows:

  • Action Hero
  • Arts & Culture Hero
  • Covid Hero
  • Caring Hero
  • Enterprise Hero
  • Environmental Hero
  • High Sheriff’s Award
  • Learning Hero
  • Sporting Hero
  • Super Hero
  • Team Award

Whilst the awards ceremony in 2020 had to take place virtually because of the pandemic, this year’s awards will be in person once again. Building on the success of last year’s virtual event, which was watched by over 4,000 people, the ceremony will also be presented as a live-stream event to be watched from home.

Amy Kington, CEO of Community of Purpose, the organisers of the awards, said, “After a challenging 2020, we’re tremendously excited for the Bristol Young Heroes Awards to bring people together again in person and give recognition to the actions and achievements of some of our city’s amazing young people who might otherwise go unnoticed. Every year these awards get better and we are aiming for these to be the best ones yet, so if you’re not lucky enough to have a ticket, make sure you watch our live streamed event and encourage other people to share and support all of our fabulous Bristol Young Heroes!”

This year’s Bristol Young Heroes Awards will be once again to sponsored and supported by UWE Bristol, along with GKN and National Lottery Community Fund as the leading principal partners.
