News, events and schools' information for families across Bristol

The weather outside is frightful, but Bristol Aquarium brings the festive cheer with an Undersea Grotto, this Christmas holiday.

The Grotto will be open 16th December – 23rd December and 27th December to 1st January from 11am – 1pm and 1:30pm – 4pm.

Included in the cost of admission to the aquarium, guests will be able to meet and take pictures with Bristol Aquarium’s loyal mascot, Charlie the Clownfish, in a special Christmas Grotto.

Charlie will be donning his Santa suit, as the big man’s underwater representative. Customers are being encouraged to write a letter to Charlie to pass on to Santa Claus.

As well as visiting the Grotto, guests will be able to take part in a Winter trail around the aquarium to discover the colourful cast of creatures on show. Families can also jump into some seasonal crafting activities for some artistic wintry fun. Grotto Gifts will be available to purchase.

“We’re all really excited to be hosting our first ever Christmas Grotto this year,” said Oliver Treasure-Smith, Marketing Manager at Bristol Aquarium.

“It will be a great opportunity for guests to enjoy some Christmas activities whilst learning about our wide array of animals and plants on display.”

Bristol Aquarium is situated on the historic harbourside and takes visitors on an underwater adventure through the world’s oceans. For more information and to purchase tickets visit www.bristolaquarium.co.uk or call 0117 929 8929.
